Today is your lucky day. Today I am going to talk to you about 8 freebies you don’t want to miss out on and how you can use them in your classroom.
All of these freebies come from the Creative ASL Teaching store. Let’s dive in and see how these products can work for you.
Bookmarkers. The ASL Bookmarks are a great freebie to use for rewards, a welcome to class, or an end-of-the-year senior farewell. You can also leave them in the library for ALL students to have. No matter how you use them, students will love getting them. All you need to do is print (I prefer heavy cardstock) and laminate.
Movie talk. Lily and the Snowman makes a great story to use at every level – even ASL 1! Video talks are an excellent way to introduce vocabulary and grammar structures. Bonus, they engage students. Use after winter break to get students back into the class routine or during your weather-themed unit.
Posters. The Famous Black Deaf Americans Poster is another way to showcase the contributions of Deaf people. Print the poster at a print shop to poster size then hang it on the wall. Use the poster to introduce each person individually as a lesson or just as a reminder of the diversity within the Deaf community.
Positive Vibes. This is a whole-class activity that has nothing to do with ASL but it is a great way to build community while spreading good vibes. This can work as a start-of-the-year activity, a brain break, or a just because activity. Students create their own positive vibes poster. They can color it too. Hang them around campus, on your classroom door, or create a bulletin board out of it.
FAQ. The classroom QR code posters are editable and easy to use. You create a QR code that links your rule for the already created posters. Place the QR code on the poster, print it, and hang it up. This is a way for you to address the frequently asked questions about rules in your classroom.
Calendar Talk. The FREE August calendar talk is the perfect way to keep your students entertained and focused at the start of the class. Use the ready-made-for-you topics to introduce new vocabulary, share national events, and get some interpretive practice. Find other calendar talks here.
Game. The Conversational Dice Game is for everyone. They make a great warm-up, warm-up, or end to the class. Dice games are always a win in the classroom.
ZAP! This is the digital version of the game ZAP! Use it to review vocabulary, answer questions about a story, or fill in the last few minutes of class.
I hope you find these FREEBIES useful! Enjoy.
