A Holiday Whodunnit Card Game

With the holiday fast approaching the students are getting restless. The closer we get to winter break, the harder it is to keep attention. I think I have come up with a solution to help keep kids engaged, using the language, and having fun!

There are a lot of holiday activities for the classroom out there for us to do. They are shared in Facebook groups, on TpT, and teacher-made creations. This card game is one activity you can add to your holiday games and make the students happy. There is a different solution each time you play so you can use it with the same class over and over again…Bonus!

The Holiday Whodunnit Card game is great for any classroom. It does not have to be a signing-only game, so if you want, you can use it at your own holiday party or with your family…Score!

This game has very little prep. Once you get it set up, it will be ready for you to use year after year. Now that is easy prep.

Cards are colorful and engaging but can be copied in black and white

Here is what you do:

  • Determine how many players you will have and print out enough cards for the game (the packet will tell you this along with all of the rules).
  • Laminate and cut out the cards for sturdiness. I printed them on normal copy paper but I would suggest you copy them on card stock or colored paper.
  • Set up the cards for each class period, your family, or your friends by following the guide sheet included in the packet.
  • Shuffle and deal the cards.
  • Play the game.
There are cards and instructions for classes of 5 – 25

See how easy that is. This is a great game to keep the students engaged and using the language while playing in the classroom.

Don’t forget to pull out the solution cards before you deal the cards!!! Have fun.

Here are some other holiday activities you will love:

The History of the Poinsettia
