If you’re looking for a fun and low-prep way to review vocabulary with your ASL students, Sign It, Find It is your new classroom favorite! This game gets students focused, thinking quickly, and fully engaged in recognizing signs in real time. It also gets a bit competitive, so hold on.
How to Play
Each student receives a worksheet filled with the I Love You handshapes, and inside each handshape is a vocabulary word worth a different point value. The point value is not important. The values are there for competition only. Students grab a colored marker (a different color for each player) and sit with a partner.

The teacher signs a word in isolation or uses it naturally in a sentence. As soon as students recognize the sign, they race to find it on their sheet and circle it with their marker. Whoever finds and circles it first, earns the points shown inside that handshape. I make point values from 2 – 5 points, but you can make them worth any value you dream of.
At the end of the round, students tally up their points, and the player with the highest total wins!
You can easily mix it up by:
- Signing words from different units for review
- Using full sentences for higher-level students
- Using full sentences with multiple words in the sentence (this gets intense)
- Setting a timer for a lightning round
Why Use This Game in the Classroom
Sign It, Find It builds visual recognition of signs and uses repetition of the vocabulary words. These are important receptive skills for ASL learners. It encourages students to watch signs closely, recall vocabulary, and connect meaning to motion in real time.
Because students have to process the sign and find the English word fast, it creates that perfect balance between fun and focus. It also provides teachers with a quick and informal way to assess understanding without using a traditional quiz. And because it is a game, students enjoy it.
This game is great for:
- Vocabulary review days
- Last-minute filler activities
- Warm-ups
- Before unit assessment reviews
- Reinforcing new signs introduced in a lesson
❤️ Why Students Love It ❤️
Students can’t get enough of the competitive energy! They love racing their classmates, circling words in their color, and keeping track of points to see who wins each round. The simple setup and fast pace make it easy for everyone to jump in and play.
It’s a perfect mix of challenge, movement, and instant feedback. Even your quieter students will be drawn in once they realize how much fun it is to recognize a sign before their partner does. Don’t wait, add this game to your classroom today!

Thank u I will use this / is this already in the ASL one two or three bundle that our school just purchased? If so, would you be able to tell me exactly where it’s at or is this new?
Hi Jennifer. I am glad you love this activity. It is a fun, fast-paced game. It is not in the curriculum bundles.
